The pharmacy team is an award winning, pioneering department that has been a leader in the implementation of several IT solutions, based primarily at Springfield Hospital in Tooting. Our team is dedicated, dynamic and committed to providing quality care and we are looking for a like-minded individual to join us.

About the role:

The SWLSTG pharmacy team have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Pharmacist to join our friendly department.

The successful candidate will provide a clinical pharmacy service on a rotational basis to a variety of mental health services, working with children, adults and older people in both inpatient and community based teams. There is opportunity to work in our forensic and national services as well. In addition to clinical services, the role involves preparation and delivery of training and education to staff Trust wide, participation in the production of treatment guidelines and protocols to promote effective use of medicines within the Trust, and participation in general medicines management initiatives & projects.

The department prides itself in its just culture and continually improves medicines safety in the organisation through various medicines safety initiatives. All pharmacy staff work closely with the Trust medicines safety officer to help improve reporting of medicines incidents and embed learning across the organisation.

We have recently implemented Electronic Prescribing & Administration throughout the Trust, and have on-going service improvement initiatives for inpatient and community services, which the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to.

Essential qualities for this post include a postgraduate certificate in clinical/mental health pharmacy, demonstrable hospital pharmacy experience, and experience of provision of medicines information. The successful candidate must be able to show compassion and respect for people with mental health problems and be driven to improve their care through medicines optimisation. Band 6/7 progression will be considered for applicants who do not meet the essential person specifications.
